August Reflections: Action in Motion
August was a month of visible acceleration—where ideas moved from blueprint to bold execution. Across our sector, we witnessed the power of aligned action: manufacturers refining their export readiness, partners stepping into new roles, and conversations turning into commitments. The silence of strategy gave way to the sound of progress.
Our latest engagements didn’t just inform—they ignited. With sharper positioning and renewed purpose, stakeholders left equipped not only to compete but to lead. We’re not chasing relevance—we’re shaping it. Every insight shared, every connection made, is a step toward a more inclusive, resilient, and globally respected South African footprint.
Let’s carry this momentum forward—with clarity, courage, and collective ambition.
Best regards,
Nerisha Jairaj Executive Director, SAFLEC

EFLC Handbag-Making Course: A First for South Africa
August saw the launch of the first-ever handbag-making course hosted by the EFLC municipal cluster and managed by SAFLEC—an exciting step toward product diversification and export growth.
Led by a global expert with ties to Dior, the two-week intensive trained 16 companies, from micro to medium-sized, in authentic Italian bag-making techniques. The course aimed to equip footwear manufacturers with new skills and offer local handbag makers a competitive edge.
This initiative supports SAFLEC’s broader goal: to grow the regional handbag sector, expand product ranges, and boost exports. It’s a strategic move toward a more resilient and versatile industry.
Thank you to all who participated in this historic milestone.
