The annual meeting of export councils, private sectors and stakeholders with Government to move ahead and grow SA exports was held in Johannesburg Midrand at the end of October 2016. The meeting was opened by the Director General of The Department of Trade and Industry, Lionel October.

October said exporters needed more support on institutional measures as well as financial to the level of the export bank. He said government was in fact in the process of converting the Export Credit Insurance Council into an Export Import Bank to ensure that exporters and export councils have the necessary resources they require. “Countries do not export, companies do. At best we can play the facilitating role included the following topics over the two day workshop:
